Frequently Asked Questions

What formats do you accept?
Currently we accept 33, 45, and 78 rpm records of all sizes. We also accept cassette, 8-track, and 1/4” reel-to-reel tapes.

. Can you restore any recording, no matter what kind of shape the record or tape is in?
Unfortunately no. The record or tape must be in playable condition or we cannot transfer it. Severe scratches that cause the record to jump or repeat cannot be restored, even with the most sophisticated software. Likewise, tapes that were poorly recorded at low sound levels do not transfer well to CD. We can, however, restore many recordings to good, listenable condition. While these methods are manual and somewhat costly, they can produce excellent results. In most cases, the charge is $25.00 to employ these methods. We will contact you if we need to use these methods for restoration and get your consent.

Do you offer CD duplication services?
If you possess the copyright for the materials you want transferred (or the materials are not copyrighted) we're happy to make additional copies of your CD.

Is this service legal?
Yes. US copyright law permits a single transfer or copy of your record or tape to another format (CD), provided that (a) the material is not commercially available for purchase in that format and (b) it is for your own personal use (i.e. - you do not sell or give it to someone else).
